Sphinx Cruise To The Top.....
by Randy Forder
Coventry Sphinx 2 Willenhall 0
Another clean sheet and another excellent performance. Sphinx dominated the game for the full 90 minutes with the Willenhall keeper Liam Flynn at his best to deny Pavel Tomczak twice in the first 15 minutes before Tomczak fired in on 25 minutes after good work down the right by Donaldson. The impressive Rob Stevenson was pulling the strings in midfield as well as putting in some teasing corners one of which resulted in McAteer heading against the post on 33 minutes. Sphinx could think themselves unlucky going into the break 1-0 after dominating the first 45 minutes.
2nd half was much the same with Donaldson giving Tom Wright at left back a torrid time. Tomczak was again denied goal this time hitting a first time shot against the bar in 55th minute, all the pressure paid off in 64th minute when Jackson latched onto a long clearance by Liam Kay to fire past Liam Flynn in the Willenhall goal. The game petered out slightly as Willenhall tired but Sphinx were well deserved of there victory and now sit level on points with Westfields at the top of the table with 26 points.
