A very lack lustre performance saw Sphinx win at home by a solitary goal in the 89th minute from a scrambled goal by Jamie McAteer. Sphinx never really got into there stride and it was Staley who were playing the better football though never threatened Carl O’Neill in the Sphinx goal until the 60th minute when O’Neill pulled off a great save from Lei Brown and from his save Brown then hit the post. This was a wake up call for Sphinx who started to move the ball and in the last 15 minutes the Studley goal was peppered by Sphinx with       in the Studley goal pulling off 4 stunning saves. Liam Kay and Kyle Rhodes both goal bound shots blocked by their own player Matt Brown who was making his full debut.

Sphinx breathed a sigh of relief when McAteer managed a scrambled goal after Matt Brown had again got in the way of a Sphinx shot. With Gresley drawing away at Kirby Muxloe it is very tight between the top three and as Sir Alex Ferguson once said “Its squeaky bum time”
