Coventry Sphinx went to the Coppice on back of a very good midweek win away at Tividale but that would count for nothing if they lost today in what was a must win game to pull them clear of the relegation zone.

Sphinx secured the 3 points with a good workman like display. They rode their luck for the first 10 minutes but from Harry whites 30 yard screamer which left the keeping grasping air there was only one team who wanted the 3 points more. Ricky Cutting get Sphinx second on 27 minutes. The Sphinx defence had now settled down and the young pairing of Tom Dyke (21) and Youth team Captain Louis Guest (18) were outstanding.

Sphinx started the second half on full throttle with Cutting getting his second of the game on 46 minutes. Matt Bannister added a fourth, and effectively put the game beyond Highgate, from a flowing move on 55 minutes.

Sphinx didnt have it all there own way with James Martin pulling off 2 very good saves to keep Highgate at bay.

Luke Hopkins said after the game "We are getting better as the games come and go. Today we were without Ben Atkins, Kyle Rhodes, Kiam Gladins, Steve Barrett and Isyeden Christie who on any other day could well of been starting. Add to that new signings Ricky Hill and Eric Malik competition is healthy. Pleasing thing for me is that we are learning in every game and growing into games. Tom Dyke and Louis Guest were very good for two young players, I had no qualms about giving Louis his full debut today his has been playing well for the Youth team and the County. He has been patient for his chance and he took it well. The starting 11 today had an average age 21 so we have plenty of potential to improve as a squad of players."
