Sphinx In Late Late Show

by Randy Forder

Coventry Sphinx 2 v 1Ellesmere

Did Sphinx deserve the 3pts?? Probably not on the first 75 minutes but for the last 15 they again showed character and commitment to snatch the 3 pts off Ellesmere.

Sphinx were a goal down on 11 minutes when Courtney found acres of space to drill home past debutant Gibbs in the Sphinx goal. from then on both teams huffed and puffed with no real threat on the keepers goal.

Second half Sphinx stepped it up a notch and started to play some half decent footy. Ellesmere brought out a good save from Gibbs and were unlucky not to go 2 up when hitting the post with the ball crawling along the line before Guest cleared for Sphinx.

This was the wake up call for Sphinx and on 85 minutes a superb passing move across the back 4 and down the right ended with the in form Rickie Cutting nipping in at the near post to draw Sphinx level.

More was to come from Sphinx when Bilic released White into the box who was felled from behind leaving the referee with no option but to point to the spot. Up stepped Gladins to seal a unlikely 3pts for Sphinx.
