Sunday 31sy July, Billed as Coventry Sphinx FC Gala Day & Adult 6-A-Side Tournament, with a chance for the adults across the city to enter a team into a small fun tournament ran by Coventry's premier Non-league club with the chance of wining £500. We had the best possible weather we could of hope for and it really helped the day go smoothly and be as enjoyable as possible for the people attending.

There was a wide range of teams, from local Saturday teams, Sunday league, groups of friends to work colleagues etc. With it being the first adult tournament ran by the club it was a learning curve for all and all games scheduled to kick off at 11.00am, it was a little behind eventually getting going at 11.20, but that's all part of the process of gaining experience in bettering the club as we move forward. We used fully qualified referees and there was some light-handed security attending to help with any disagreements, as after all it was for £500!!

The standard of football seemed to be very good and there was a few games which went all the way through extra time to penalties and these seemed to bring the crowd to life as people missed, keepers saved etc and some good penalties taken to win games. But it all ended with SoccerRockz Allstars, Captained, Managed and even owned by Coventry Sphinx very Tom 'Top Cat' Cudworth beating 'A floppy one' Captained by another current Sphinx player in Liam Kay. The crowd seemed to enjoy the game, but the Allstars took the prize money, the shield and the winners medals in normal time.

We would like thank all the teams that took part and the people who turned up to watch the football and take a stroll around the stalls, bouncy castles and the other entertainment we had on the day.

The main target of the day was to attract people to the club that had never been the Sphinx before, perhaps didnt even know it was there. We feel we managed to do this with the majority of the crowd that came through the gates and hoped they all enjoyed there time, next year we promise to be bigger and better with maybe a presentation night with live music in the bar after the tournament.

As a club we were plaesed with the event but will iron out any flaws for next seasons event again thanks to all teams that played and everyone who attended the event
